Deep tissue massage is integral to the alleviation of pain, bringing about better posture,
increased flexibility and stimulating fluidity of movement. This massage technique focusses
on the deeper layers of muscle tissue and aims to release chronic tension patterns
throughout the body. Application of slow strokes and deep finger pressure (in some cases
knuckles or elbow) on these areas enables break up and elimination of scar tissue; releases
toxins from muscles; and fascilitates blood and oxygen circulation throughout the body.
Shiatsu is a Japanese healing Art based on concepts of energy, movement and health that
began its evolution in the Orient over 5000 years ago. Shiatsu in Japanese literally means finger
pressure. Precise, comfortable pressure applied to all parts of the body effectively balances
body and mind and triggers our own 'natural healing power'. According to oriental medicine, good
health and strong healing powers depend on the smooth flow of life energy or Ki.... to all parts
of the body - mind. Disease, discomfort, fatigue or emotional distress can all occur when this
free flow of Ki, is interrupted. Shiatsu seeks to balance this energy flow.
Reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principal that there are reflexes in
the feet and hands which correspond to every part of the body. By stimulating and
applying pressure on these areas... you are increasing circulation and promoting specific
bodily and muscular functions.
Warm stone massage involves the application of water heated basalt stones of varying sizes
to key points on the body giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and
warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of greater intensity than with
regular massage. In cases of muscular injury and inflamation, frozen cooling marble stones are
used. This increases vascular circulation and helps the body detoxify and heal.
Allow 90 minutes for treatment.
